The instrument has four independent main detectors, which can simultaneously measure four samples and give the total α total β activity of the four samples respectively. Product introduction

Our company independently developed and produced four low background α/β measuring instrument is mainly used to measure the total α and β radioactivity of environmental, food, water and other samples. The instrument is composed of main detector, anti-coincidence detector, photomultiplier tube, high voltage module, anti-coincidence electronics module, lead shielding chamber, data processing and display terminal, etc., to measure the total α and total β radioactive activity in the sample. The instrument has four independent main detectors, which can simultaneously measure four samples and give the total α total β activity of the four samples respectively. It has the advantages of high sensitivity, low background, simple structure, convenient operation, stable and reliable.

Application area

It can be used to measure α and β activity in radiation protection, environmental samples, edible water, medicine and health, agricultural science, nuclear power plant, reactor, isotope production, geological exploration and other fields. It can also be used for the measurement of total α and total β radioactivity specific activity in contaminated water, air, food, fruits and vegetables, soil at the site of nuclear accident or nuclear explosion.

 

Structural composition

1. Main detector

The main probe of the instrument consists of a zinc sulfide (silver) plastic scintillator and a low noise photomultiplier tube. Zinc sulfide (silver) plastic scintillator has high detection efficiency for αβ particles and low background. The sample plate is made of 0.5mm stainless steel, 4.5cm in diameter and 2mm in depth.

2. Anti-coincidence detector

The anticoincidence detector is composed of a photomultiplier tube and a plastic scintillation plate. The anticoincidence detector is mainly designed to reduce the background generated by muons in cosmic rays, but also to partially reduce the background generated by environmental radiation. The anticoincidence efficiency is > 99%.

3. Lead chamber

The instrument is made of 8cm thick lead (including the outer steel shell) as a shielding substance, mainly used to shield the interference caused by environmental radiation to the detector. The total weight of the lead chamber is 400kg. The lead chamber is removable and easy to install and maintain. The lead thickness at the top and bottom of the lead chamber is 10cm.

4. Electronic circuits

The electronic circuit of the instrument consists of amplification, screening, forming, high and low voltage power supply, data acquisition and industrial computer (optional printer).

Main detector: nano-array zinc sulfide plated (silver) plastic scintillator;

Number of channels: four main detectors, each time can measure 4 samples, multiple channels are independent of each other;

Anti-coincidence detector: large volume parallel plate plastic scintillator, anti-coincidence efficiency is greater than 99%;

Light collection unit: low noise photomultiplier tube;

Detection efficiency: The 2π detection efficiency of 90Sr-90Y plane β source is >50%,

The 2π detection efficiency of 239Pu plane α source is more than 80%.

β background: <0.15/cm2/min;

α background: <0.005/cm2/min;

The crosstalk ratio of α ray to β channel is less than 3%; The crosstalk ratio of β-ray to α channel is less than 1%.

Background stability: Within a measurement period of 24 hours, the background count varies within the range of (N±3σ), where N is the mean value of the background count and σ is the standard error of the background count;

Efficiency stability: When the instrument was powered on continuously for 8 hours, the detection efficiency of all αβ channels was less than ±3%.

Operating environment: Temperature: -10oC to 40oC; Relative humidity <90%;

Working power supply: AC220V/50Hz, 80W.

 

 

Product standards

The product meets the index requirements of JJG853-2013 "Low background α and β Measuring Instrument" verification regulation, and the performance reaches the level II index of GB/T11682-2008 "Low background α and/or β Measuring Instrument" standard.
